The Shelter Dogs were created one dark and stormy night in the Fall of 2010 by Guitarist/Singer Pete Bullard (Michael May Band, Wixom Slim, The Terraplanes) and Bassist/Singer Todd Perkins (Blue Front Persuaders, Big Dave & The Ultrasonics, Michael Katon Band) as a way to explore their shared love of Old-School Swing, Blues, Lounge and Rockabilly music. A few months later, Drummer and Vocalist Tom Twiss (Al Hill, The Martindales, The Prodigals) was drafted into the band, opening the group up into a great, rockin' trio!! It's been a good ride so far, we've had lots of great shows and festivals in the last years, and look forward to many more in the years to come...

Todd has spent many of his years in music on the road traveling with various bands. In the 80s his Blue Front Persuaders were a regional hit in the Midwest, playing their brand of high-energy Swing and Blues. Early 90s found him out playing through the U.S. and Canada non-stop with Big Dave & The Ultrasonics, and in the late 90s and early 2000s he toured extensively with Blues Rocker Michael Katon in England,  Europe and Scandinavia. Educated at WCC, Wayne State University and University of Michigan, he has also engineered and produced albums for Jesse Richards, As The Crow Flies and Mickey Richard, as well as 4 of his solo CDs (under his pen name Beowulf Kingsley). He lives outside Ann Arbor on a farm with his wife, 6 cats and 14 chickens.

Pete is being recognized as one of the rising stars in the Midwestern Guitar scene. Having honed his talents with Rock and Blues bands such as the Terraplanes, Wixom Slim & The Wize Guyze, and Michael May, he now sings and plays in The Shelter Dogs as well as fronting his own band The Bulltones. His playing on Michael Mays recent CD contributed heavily to its regional success on Blues radio programs throughout Michigan, Ohio and Illinois, and his incredibly versatile and inventive Guitar and Vocal stylings are an integral and essential part of the Shelter Dogs experience. He lives in Chelsea with his wife and daughter.

Tom is truly one of the most respected drummers in the Tri-State area. He's known as the "Go-To" session guy for recordings and has played with just about everybody, including long stints in The Prodigals, The BlueRays, Al Hill & The Love Butlers, The Witch Doctors and The Martindales. He has toured through every state in the contiguous USA for many years, and his current very busy teaching studio displays his dedication to educating young musicians. His virtuosity on percussion and his engaging vocals are an exciting addition to the Shelter Dogs sound!  He lives in Ann Arbor with his girlfriend.
